Block’s Cinderella story may be over as he made a high number early on in the 2024 PGA Championship at Valhalla.

California teaching professional Michael Block became one of the biggest storylines from the 2023 PGA Championship. He took the world by storm with his charisma and his electric hole-in-one on Sunday.

The “Block Party” continued past Oak Hill as he received various exemptions into some big events, but unfortunately, after his start at Valhalla Golf Club, it could be over. He made a bogey on the first hole and followed it up with a quad-bogey on the par-4 2nd.

Is the Block Party over at the 2024 #PGAChampionship?

Block tied for 15th at Oak Hill, thanks to a spectacular up-and-down on the 18th hole, which prompted him to receive a spot in this year’s event at Valhalla.

Months after his magical moments in Rochester, Block allegedly shot the course record at Valhalla on a scouting trip.

However, that has not paid off so far. He does not look like he will be a part of another Cinderella story this time.

He could find himself heading home early if this poor play continues.

Once fans realized he posted such a high number, they lost it on social media.

Some were happy he screwed up, while others felt for him.

Block slipped up and told a podcast that if he had Rory McIlroy’s length off the tee, he would be one of the best in the world. That angle is what many of these fans took when roasting the teaching pro.

It is odd to see people excited about someone playing poorly.

Oddly, so many are excited about Block’s poor play. Golf is already a demanding sport, so what he did in 2023 was remarkable. His performance in 2024 does not diminish that. Regardless of how high his score might be on Thursday, Block will still be part of the 2023 PGA Championship lore.
