It is a big week in professional golf. From the PGA Tour to the LPGA and LIV Golf, there is plenty to watch.
Welcome to Playing Through’s morning ritual — Golf Talk Today.
Each morning will feature a Golf Talk Today, where the crew will discuss various elements throughout professional golf.
This week features massive LPGA, PGA Tour, LIV Golf and Champions Tour tournaments. Not to mention the annual celebrity golf tournament at Lake Tahoe, the American Century Championship.
The PGA Tour begins its two-week trip in Scotland with the Genesis Scottish Open up first before the Open Championship next week at Royal Troon. However, there is also an opposite-field event in Kentucky, the ISCO Championship, formerly known as the Barbasol Championship.
Also across the pond are the women for their fourth major of the season — the Amundi Evian Championship. Some of the best women in golf are in France to compete for the latest major. Nelly Korda looks to reignite her spark and earn her second major of the season.
The 50-plus Tour also has a major championship this week. They are playing in the Bridgestone Senior Players Championship at Firestone’s South Course in Akron, Ohio.
LIV Golf is back in action in Spain for LIV Andalucía at Real Club Valderrama. Jon Rahm looks for his first individual win since he joined the Saudi-backed league in December.
As you can see, there is plenty of golf to watch this week, but it is important not to just tune into the main event. While the Scottish Open features some of the top names on the PGA Tour, the opposite field tournament has so many young guys who continue to perform well.
From Luke Clanton to Neal Shipley, the young studs are in Kentucky, eying a PGA Tour victory.
The same can be said for the Champions Tour and LPGA. Although they may not be what everyone wants to watch, both events will still produce incredible golf.
