Stephen Curry tortured French announcers with Olympics takeover

Published on

Stephen Curry’s nuclear Olympics takeover is even better with French commentary.

Stephen Curry saved one of the greatest stretches of his historic career for the closing minutes of the gold medal game in his first and only Olympics appearance. Curry iced the win for the United States against France with four straight three-pointers, and his final dagger will survive as one of the most amazing shots of his historic career.

The United States beat France, 98-87, to come out on top of the podium in men’s basketball at the 2024 Paris Olympics. The French had trimmed the U.S. lead to just three points with under three minutes to play, and that’s when Curry went nuclear to deliver the U.S. another gold.

Curry’s incredible display of long-range shot-making stunned an electric crowd in Paris that was pulling hard for the home team. The French announcers could barely believe what they were watching. Here’s video of the commentary from French television as Curry went bananas in the final minutes.

“The devil named Curry is hurting us,” is just too good. You could feel Steph ripping their hearts out in real time.

Curry’s final dagger was an impossible shot that had no business going in. The French announcers had the only appropriate reaction, translated to: “How is this possible?”

It’s hard to blame France if they hate USA Basketball. The Americans also beat the French in the gold medal game in women’s basketball by just one point in another instant classic. The U.S. beat France in men’s basketball in the gold medal game at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, too.

Curry’s Olympics takeover will survive as one of the greatest moments of his historic career. Curry isn’t just the best shooter ever — he has a case as the best offensive player in the history of the game. The whole world just got to see it. It’s too bad the French couldn’t enjoy it like the rest of us.
