Shaquille O’Neal doesn’t know much when it comes to the Detroit Pistons, but that went to a whole other level on Tuesday night. The Inside the NBA crew were talking about the team’s winning streak before Shaq praised an unlikely figure in all this.
You can’t make this up…
Shaq doesn’t know who coaches the Pistons
Players are only relatable to him if they are compared to 90s players
Openly admits he doesn’t watch Detroit after he called them “boring”
Clearly unaware that J.B. Bickerstaff is the coach in Detroit, Shaq began praising Portland Trailblazers’ coach Chauney Billups for the turnaround in Big-D. Billups, who was definitely a part of the 2004 championship team under Larry Brown, is definitely not the coach of the Pistons now.
It was enough that Candace Parker had to stop Shaq in his tracks to correct the mistake, to which Shaq quipped “I don’t watch Detroit, how about that?” Which is a pretty remarkable admission when you’ve just finished talking about the team and who your favorite player on the roster is.
This is pretty much on-brand for Shaq. He really doesn’t like the Pistons. Heck, earlier in the day he recorded a podcast in which he downplayed their winning streak saying they were “four games below .500,” when in reality they’re currently 37-29.
Turnabout is fair play. If someone else did this Shaq would add them to his “Shaqtin’ A Fool” segment, so now he belongs in it too.
