Look at the best Team USA and International Team social media posts and quotes from the lead up to the 2024 Presidents Cup
Welcome to Playing Through’s daily ritual — Golf Talk Today.
Each day, the crew will discuss various elements of the PGA Tour, LPGA, LIV Golf, and more.
Today marks the first session of the 2024 Presidents Cup as Team USA and the International Team go head-to-head.
The last few days have given the golf world some incredible moments as the two teams prepare for this tournament.
Today we will look at some of the best social media posts and then some of the best quotes out of each side.
I wanted to give the fans a place for them to find the funny things from the week and see how much fun the Presidents Cup is.
Without further ado, let’s get into the best social media posts from the lead up to the Presidents Cup.
Best social media posts so far from the Presidents Cup
The first has to be Sungjae Im dancing to Gangham Style like no one is watching. He is such a quiet stoic guy that it was a shocker, but I absolutely loved it.

To see him show off his personality was such a great moment. Honestly, the International Team continues to put together some incredible content, and I am so here for it.
We love a good merchandise moment too here at Playing Through. When in Canada, incorporating hockey is a must, so of course, they put it on the t-shirts and other merch in the fan shop.

The team wives also got into the content action at the Presidents Cup. They painted portrait’s of their husbands and this thread of tweets is hilarious.

We cannot do this segment without including Team USA, and Sahith Theegala gave a great moment. The social team asked him who he would not pass the aux cord to and Theegala totally threw Brian Harman under the bus. However, it was hilarious and so off the cuff that it worked.

Tony Finau also gave a great moment ranking his favorite fast food restaurants and he is perfect on social. However, we have to question his motives when it comes to ranking Chick-fil-A so low.

Best Team USA quotes (so far)
“I’m not the fun guy, but I’m just around for the good vibes. But it’s been so much fun.”
— Sahith Theegala on whether he is the fun guy on Team USA or not.
“Russell Henley swings it great. It’s really smooth, and he hits it pretty much dead straight every time, so I would say that one.”
— Sam Burns on whose swing he is most jealous of on Team USA
“Bald eagles.”
— Sam Burns on his favorite “American” thing.
“Collin Morikawa. To me he kind of seems like a robot. I feel like he just — his swing looks identical every time. It’s the same tempo. It’s the same setup. It looks like he hits the ball the exact same way every time. I’ve just always admired the way he does it.”
— Russell Henley on whose swing he is most jealous of on Team USA
“Jealous of their swing? I mean, Scottie. That’s got to be the answer. Best ball striker in the world, Scottie. Yeah, the footwork is wild but it works, more than works. He knows what he’s doing. When you watch Scottie, sometimes it’s like — to me it’s a thing of beauty. Most people are making fun of his footwork but that’s athleticism at its best. The guy is absolutely incredible.”
— Tony Finau on whose swing he is most jealous of on Team USA.
Best International Team quotes (so far)
“I’m a big fist pumper. Especially like if the crowd’s with us, got to give them something.”
— Min Woo Lee on if he likes to fist pump.
“The boys are funny. I have an Australian accent when I speak Korean, so it sounds funny to me. I feel like I can’t say all the words, but when I do say it, it’s funny. Obviously I want to make other people laugh. Yeah, we just have a lot of fun. Yeah, we nearly had too much fun. I know we’re going to get our serious face on, but it’s great to play with Koreans. I’m part Korean. I’m learning Korean as well, so it’s good. And they’re great golfers.”
— Min Woo Lee on his Korean accent and playing with the other Korean players.
“Japanese sensation.”
— Si Woo Kim on Hideki Matsuyama
“I feel like I really looked up to Kobe Bryant for such a long time. I still do. Kobe was a guy who was so dedicated to the process and the journey to becoming great and never really talked about achieving something.”
— Tom Kim on who his idol is.
“I love Roger Federer. He’s a gentleman off the court and on the court, the way he played, he was very graceful in that. He’s just someone that I look up to sports-wise is Roger Federer.”
— Jason Day on his non-golf role model.
