The 49ers wide receiver injured his right leg in Week 7. We break down Brandon Aiyuk’s injury and status.

UPDATE: The 49ers have ruled out Brandon Aiyuk the rest of the game. They made the announcement to the media at the start of the third quarter.

The San Francisco 49ers have lost wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk to a leg injury in Week 7. The team was struggling on offense against the Kansas City Chiefs, but appeared to find a groove late in the second quarter. Aiyuk made a big-time catch, but proceeded to injure his right leg.

The leg bent inward in an awkward fashion. He was able to walk off the field, but did so gingerly and immediately entered the blue medical tent. He was subsequently taken to the locker room on a cart and was seen pointing to his right knee.

You can see how the injury happened below. It’s a graphic injury, so consider that a warning before watching.

Rookie receiver Ricky Pearsall was already in the game making his pro debut. Rookie Jacob Cowing joined him on the field after Aiyuk left the game and made his first career reception, gaining nine yards on the play. Pearsall made a six-yard reception for his first career catch earlier in the drive.

More to come.
