Will this be the week that Davante Adams finally ‘goes off’ for the New York Jets?

The 2024 season for the New York Jets has not gone as planned. After starting 2-1, they lost five straight games, fired their coach, and traded for Aaron Rodgers’ favorite wide receiver in the league. They’ve been a team that can’t escape drama and are currently 3-7 heading into Week 11. With a must-win game against the Indianapolis Colts at home on Sunday, the Jets will hope one of their top wide receivers in Davante Adams will be able to play.

Davante Adams injury status

According to ESPN’s Rich Cimini, Adams will officially be listed as questionable, but is expected to play on Sunday against the Colts. Adams did not practice on Wednesday or Thursday with an illness, but did practice in full on Friday. The Jets wide receiver has been dealing with some wrist soreness as well, but him missing practice this week was mostly because of the illness.

What Davante Adams injury means for fantasy football

The Jets and quarterback Aaron Rodgers will be glad to have Davante Adams available for Sunday’s game against the Colts. Over the last two games, Adams has 13 catches for 122 yards and a touchdown.

While Adams hasn’t gone over 100 yards receiving in a game since joining the Jets, he will have an opportunity in Week 11 taking on the Colts defense. The Colts are allowing the sixth most receiving yards per game.

Adams hasn’t had the success with the Jets that some expected when the team traded for him. However, Adams does have six and seven catches the last two games with 11 and 13 targets. Rodgers has looked Adams’ way often as of late as the Jets wide receiver has a 35.8 percent target share over the last two weeks which leads the NFL. It’s clear that the Jets are trying to get Adams more involved. In the last two games, he’s been the first-read on 41.2 percent of targets in the Jets offense.

Since arriving in New York, Adams has only been the WR24 with an outlier game in Week 9 in which he had 22.1 PPR fantasy points. Adams hasn’t eclipsed double-digit fantasy points in any of the other three games since joining the Jets.

Still, it’s hard to ignore the upside here against a Colts defense that has been susceptible against the pass. Two weeks ago, Justin Jefferson had seven receptions for 137 yards while Mack Hollins got close to the 100-yard mark last week. It’s difficult to play Adams as anything more than a flex, but this is a game where it may pay off to trust the process.
