Kevin Kisner produced one incredible moment during his TGL debut.
What Kevin Kisner did on the 14th hole during Tuesday night’s match may go down as the funniest moment in TGL history, even though this new venture is only two weeks old.
After hitting his approach shot into the greenside bunker, Kisner, who is semi-retired and does not play competitively often, hit a complete shank. His rocket-hosel rifled off his wedge and bee-lined towards the flagstick. It ricocheted off the pin, making a loud smack, and his ball finally settled beyond the Green Zone.
Tiger Woods could not help himself as he doubled over in disbelief. Golf fans had never seen him laugh harder. Fellow teammate Max Homa shared similar sentiments, laughing so hard that he could barely breathe.
It’s a good thing the pin was in Kisner’s way, though, or else his shank would have likely ended up in the SoFi Center crowd, which could have caused much distress.
But Kisner, in typical Kis-fashion, brushed off his shank by almost holing his comeback chip. He hit a gorgeous third shot that landed on the green, trickled down the slope, and looked destined for the hole. It would have been an incredible par, but his attempt lipped out at the last second. He had to settle for a bogey four, not a bad score, all things considered.
Yet, Kisner’s and Woods’ team, Jupiter Links Golf Club, turned in a rather poor performance in their debut. They lost to the Los Angeles Golf Club by a score of 12-to-1, as Collin Morikawa and Sahith Theegala hit a bevy of solid approaches while Justin Rose poured in plenty of putts.
At least Kisner gave everyone a great laugh amid the blowout.
