Malika Andrews perfectly handled LA earthquake while live on ESPN

An earthquake hit the ESPN LA studios, but Malika Andrews handled it like it was nothing.

Malika Andrews is one of the biggest rising stars in sports media. Only a few years ago, Andrews was a beat reporter for the Chicago Tribune covering the lowly Chicago Bulls. These days, she’s the face of ESPN’s NBA coverage as a studio host on game days and for the network’s daytime show “NBA Today.”

Andrews is only 29 years old, but she already has the poise of a veteran. She proved that once again when a 4.7 magnitude earthquake hit Los Angeles on Monday that rocked ESPN’s LA studio.

Andrews was live on the air talking to WNBA legend Rebecca Lobo when the earthquake hit. While most people would panic in that situation, Andrews expertly gathered herself, made sure the crew was safe, and informed viewers of what exactly was happening inside the studio. Watch the clip here:

Being able to handle yourself with so much composure on live TV really is a gift a lot of people don’t have. Andrews clearly has it in spades.

You will likely be seeing Andrews on your TV for a long time as ESPN/ABC extended its agreement to broadcast the NBA. This is a great example of why she’s so highly regarded.
