The Cowboys face the Eagles in Philadelphia on Sunday. We break down what the game means for the NFL playoff picture.

Normally a late-season Philadelphia Eagles vs Dallas Cowboys game would be high intrigue, but this game was flexed out of the national window Sunday afternoon. The Egales have clinched a playoff spot and the Cowboys have been eliminated, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t a least some intrigue.

Eagles playoff picture

The Eagles have clinched a playoff spot, but they are now still looking to clinch the NFC East and have a shot at the one seed.

For the one seed, they are a game back of the Eagles and will lose the NFC record tiebreaker to Detroit at 14-3, so the Eagles need the Lions to lose both of their finals two games while Philadelphia wins their final two.

Philly can clinch no worse than the two seed and the NFC East title with a win against the Cowboys or a Commanders loss.

Tiebreaker implications

A loss by Philadelphia would put the Eagles at 3-2 in the division this year, tied with the Commanders. That’s what opens the door for the Commanders, who would take the lead in the NFC record tiebreaker.
