Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler will reportedly take on Bryson DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka in an epic PGA Tour versus LIV Golf match.

Perhaps this is what golf fans have been looking for.

According to Eamon Lynch of Golfweek, PGA Tour stars Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler will face two of the biggest names from LIV Golf, Brooks Koepka and Bryson DeChambeau, in a made-for-TV event in December. It will air live on TNT, which has previously broadcasted nine iterations of ‘The Match,’ the exhibition series that began with Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson squaring off in 2018. ‘The Match’ has staged eight events since then, as McIlroy, Koepka, and DeChambeau have all taken part. McIlroy won the most recent edition, which featured Max Homa, Lexi Thompson, and Rose Zhang, in February 2024.

Due to the nature of the rivalry between leagues, it remains to be seen whether this PGA Tour-LIV Golf showdown will be included within that series or become its own branded event.

All four players confirmed their representation.

“I’m thrilled to partner with Scottie in what promises to be an exciting duel against Bryson and Brooks in Vegas this December,” McIlroy wrote to Lynch in a text message.

“This isn’t just a contest between some of golf’s major champions; it’s an event designed to energize the fans. We’re all here to put on a great show and contribute to a goodwill event that brings the best together again.”

Last week at the Tour Championship, McIlroy expressed his frustration with the lack of progress on a deal between the tour and the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF), LIV Golf’s beneficiary. The top of the sport remains divided, with major champions competing on separate circuits. Both PGA Tour and LIV Golf pros compete side-by-side only four times per year at the four majors, but this exhibition presents a unique opportunity to expand on that.
