Tim Walz couldn’t resist roasting the Bears for their Hail Mary debacle

VP candidate Tim Walz roasted the Chicago Bears while speaking in Wisconsin

The Chicago Bears’ stunning 18-15 loss to the Washington Commanders on the game’s final play Sunday has become a huge talking point in the NFL world. Much of the discussion has focused on Tyrique Stevenson, the Chicago defensive back who was busy jawing with Washington fans when the game’s final play began, before racing over the goal-line scrum and tipping a Jayden Daniels pass into the waiting arms of Commanders’ wide receiver Noah Brown.

That moment even made its way to the presidential campaign trail.

Speaking at a rally Monday in Wisconsin, Democratic Vice Presidential candidate and former high school defensive coordinator Tim Walz took a moment to roast the Bears during a stump speech:

“We’re leaving it all on the field. Unlike the @ChicagoBears I might add. They earned it, too.”

It should not come as a surprise that Walz — the former defensive coordinator and current Minnesota Vikings fan — would take a moment to get in a dig against the Bears. It should also be noted that Walz roasted the Bears in Wisconsin, playing right to the voters in the crowd, many of whom are likely Green Bay Packers fans.

All politics is local.
