Trent Williams punched a Chiefs player in the helmet, and signed autographs on his way out after being ejected.
Late in the fourth quarter of the highly anticipated matchup between the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers, Niners star left tackle Trent Williams was ejected for punching Chiefs’ safety Bryan Cook in the aftermath of a skirmish at the end of a play.
Clearly, it looks like Cook should’ve been ejected along with Williams for throwing a punch as well. But, as your high school coach always used to say, “last one to throw a punch, first one caught by the refs.” Throwing a punch at anyone who is wearing a helmet is incredibly dumb, but if Williams does it…I’m willing to reconsider.
After Williams was ejected from the 49ers’ loss to Kansas City, he made sure to make a young fan’s day on his way out. He stopped to sign an autograph, which is quite possibly the most baller thing done after getting ejected.
Williams and Cook will both probably get fined for this, but it might be worth it in the moment.
