Despite sitting towards to the top of the leaderboard, Tyrrell Hatton is not pleased, specifically with the 18th hole.

Englishman Tyrrell Hatton has never been shy about expressing his opinions or displeasure on the golf course. He is also never afraid to drop an unabashed expletive whenever something does not go his way.

So, Hatton’s little spat on the 18th fairway on Friday should come as no surprise. Right before playing his second shot, Hatton revealed his true feelings about this 611-yard par-5, the final hole at this week’s DP World Tour Championship.

“It’s absolutely tragic. I despise everything about this hole,” Hatton said as picked up by the broadcast mics.

“Having to hit 9-iron after hitting a good tee shot shows how bad it is.”

His caddie, Hugo Dobson, then chimed in, saying, “Just hit a good line. Right center.”

But that attempt at calming Hatton down did not stop his diatribe.

“It’s so ridiculous,” Hatton continued.

“Everything about this hole I despise!”

Hatton, who shot a 3-under 69 on Friday, sits in a tie for second with Rory McIlroy at 8-under overall, one stroke behind leader Antoine Rozner of France through 36 holes. Yet, based on this rant, you would have figured that he was about to miss the cut.

But Hatton revealed after his round that he has not felt comfortable standing over the ball all week, a sensation that all golfers can relate to and that nobody wishes upon anyone.

“Just every shot felt like a bit of a struggle, I guess,” Hatton said.

“3-under is a pretty acceptable score, all things considered, but naturally, you always kind of—you want to be better. So yeah, I guess it’s fair to say I’m pretty frustrated.”
