Which tight ends will shine in Week 4 for your fantasy football teams? We’ll take a look at all of them in our PPR rankings.
Tight ends still are dragging fantasy footballers down, but thankfully there aren’t any that have put up big numbers with any consistency. Week 3 brought Dallas Goedert back from the fantasy grave, as injuries to A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith helped propel him to a huge workload and fantasy day. Oh, and we had four tight end games that went over 90 yards! But, only five found the end zone, and only five had over 7.9 PPR points.
Tyler Conklin, Jake Ferguson and Cole Kmet all put up strong games, giving us fantasy footballers some hope that our tight ends could also score more than a handful of fantasy points.
Week 4 tight end injuries
Tre McBride, Cardinals
McBride suffered a concussion late in Week 3, and will need to be cleared to be able to play against the Commanders. It would be a significant blow to the Cardinals offense and to fantasy managers all over, but there is a chance he can be cleared still. Tight end Elijah Higgins would have some appeal while Greg Dortch could be in for a bump in targets out of the slot.
Sam LaPorta, Lions
Some good news on LaPorta, as his ankle injury is reportedly of the low variety and he’s considered day-to-day per head coach Dan Campbell. Brock Wright came in for the injured LaPorta and caught 4-of-5 targets for 36 yards. That’s not awful usage, so if LaPorta can’t go, Wright has some standalone fantasy appeal.
George Kittle, 49ers
Kittle suffered a hamstring injury in practice last week and wasn’t able to play against the Rams. There never was much clarity on the injury, but the team downplayed it somewhat. At this point it is impossible to know what his status for this week will be, but there is appears to be a chance he will play. If he can and Deebo Samuel remains out, he should see a good workload against the Patriots.
David Njoku, Browns
Nook continues to heal fro his ankle injury. He didn’t practice last week, but he should be getting closer to practicing. Even if he doesn’t end up playing, it would be a positive to see him get in some work. His replacement, Jordan Akins hasn’t done much of anything offensively while Nook has been out.
Week 4 tight end sleepers
Cole Kmet, Bears vs. Rams
Kmet started off slow this season. So slow that he was out snapped by Gerald Everett in Week 1, but he was able to get back on top of the snap count and last week put up a big game as Caleb Williams and the Bears tried to come from behind against the Colts. Williams tried passing the ball 52 times, with 11 of those going to Kmet, who caught 10 for 97 yards and a touchdown. Before that he had five receptions for 31 yards. So yes, the floor is super low. The good news is that the Rams have a weak defense and have been generous to tight ends this year, ranking fourth-worst in fantasy points allowed to the position.
Mike Gesicki, Bengals at Panthers
Gesicki isn’t on the field as much as we’d like, but he leads the Bengals tight ends with 18 targets, which is fourth-best in the league. He also gets a good matchup against a Panthers defense that got a boost from their offense last week, as well as facing Gardner Minshew, but I doubt the Andy Dalton boost lasts too long. The Panthers defense is still susceptible, ranking second-worst at giving up fantasy points to tight ends.
