Tua Tagovailoa is expected to return to the field during the 2024 NFL season
The Miami Dolphins have been without starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa since Week 2 of the 2024 NFL season. During the Thursday Night Football game between the Dolphins and the Buffalo Bills, Tagovailoa suffered a scary concussion on a play in the second half, his third confirmed concussion during his NFL career.
Tagovailoa’s concussion back in Week 2 prompted concerns that the Dolphins passer might miss the rest of the season, or could step away from the game entirely. Following the 2022 season, when Tagovailoa suffered a pair of confirmed concussions, the quarterback admitted that he did contemplate retirement.
However, in the clearest sign yet that Tagovailoa is going to try and make a comeback, Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel indicated to the media Monday that he does “expect to see” the quarterback playing again this season:
McDaniel also indicated that Tagovailoa will not be playing this week, but there continue to be “positive” signs regarding Tagovailoa’s recovery.
