The Eagles quarterback made a surprise appearance on the injury report before Week 10

One of the best rivalries in the NFL is the Philadelphia Eagles and the Dallas Cowboys. While this one doesn’t have the hype that it normally would with Dak Prescott going on injured reserve this week, it will still be a big game for both sides. Since losing to the Buccaneers, the Eagles have since won four straight games. However with two division games in five days, the Eagles will need quarterback Jalen Hurts healthy.

Jalen Hurts Injury Status

Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts showed up on the injury report on Wednesday with a “rest” designation. Hurts then practiced in full the rest of the week and was removed from the injury report. However, while Hurts was given a rest designation, head coach Nick Sirianni alluded to the rest day being more than that. Said Sirianni on Friday, “Yeah, it was on the injury report. Dealing with the ankle. And, you know, making sure we’re cautious with everything.”

While Sirianni mentioned the Hurts was on the injury report, the reason didn’t specify that it was for an ankle, but rest The rest designation is common around the NFL, especially for veteran players. According to ESPN’s Tim McManus,

“Hurts has been dealing with a mild ankle issue for a couple weeks. A separate league source described it as “lower leg soreness” and that his limited practice Wednesday was for load management purposes…The source added that Hurts was held back from dropping and planting during the individual periods but did throw the football later Wednesday during team walkthrough”

Based on the report from McManus, it sounds like Hurts has been dealing with the ankle issue for a couple of weeks. Given that he practiced fully at the end of the week and hasn’t missed a game this season, there likely isn’t any concern or Hurts missing Sunday’s game against the Cowboys. All signs point to him playing in Dallas.

What Jalen Hurts’ injury means for fantasy football

There doesn’t seem to be any concern here from the Eagles or Hurts when it comes to his ankle injury. When Hurts was asked about it, the quarterback said, “I just do what I’m told.”

The injury doesn’t seem to be affecting Hurts negatively. Over the past four games, Hurts has been the fantasy football QB1 which has included back-to-back performances of 35.1 and 29.9 point games.

Hurts hasn’t thrown an interceptions since Week 3 and has completed over 70 percent of his passes in each of the last three games. The Eagles quarterback has also been just as involved as a runner. He’s had 10 or more carries in three of the last four weeks. That includes last week when Hurts had 13 rushing attempts for 67 yards and a touchdown. The week before he had 10 attempts for 37 yards and three touchdowns.

Despite Hurts showing up on the injury report, he should be started in fantasy football lineups as normal. The Cowboys have allowed the fifth-most fantasy points to quarterbacks this season. Back in Week 3, Lamar Jackson rushed 14 times for 87 yards against the Cowboys and Hurts could have similar success and be in for a solid QB1 fantasy performance.
