Brock Purdy haters are living well after he threw four interceptions vs. the Ravens.
Does anyone want to win NFL MVP this year? It sure doesn’t seem like it.
San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy entered a late night Christmas day game against the Baltimore Ravens with a chance to lock down the award. Purdy was widely considered the front-runner coming into the showdown of the top teams in each conference. No one would argue that Purdy is one of the five best QBs alive, but his efficient play for a powerhouse team and incredible underdog story as the last pick in the 2022 NFL Draft was propelling him to the top of a wide open field. That was the case, at least, before a horrible performance against the AFC favorites with the entire country watching.
The Ravens beat the 49ers, 33-19, in a game that was a nightmare from the very start for Purdy. The Niners QB finished with four interceptions to zero touchdowns while throwing for 255 yards in the loss. San Francisco ended the game with Sam Darnold at quarterback. It felt like an MVP favorite killed his chances at the award in one game this late into the season.
Purdy droppd from No. 1 to No. 3 in the MVP odds on DraftKings after throwing four picks.
Other sportsbooks had Purdy falling to fifth.

Purdy’s night got off to a bad start by throwing a red zone pick on the 49ers’ first drive. This was just a bad read and poor throw:
Purdy’s second interception came off an incredible play by the Baltimore defense:
Ravens second-year defensive back Kyle Hamilton got his second pick off Purdy during a broken play in the second quarter.
Purdy’s fourth pick ended all hope of a Niners comeback:
The Ravens had at least one more interception hit them in the hands that they dropped. Needless to say, Purdy just didn’t have it against a loaded Baltimore defensive unit. Darnold came in and threw one touchdown and one interception himself in the loss.
49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan talked about Purdy’s rough night after the game:
The real winner from Ravens-49ers was the guy who sold his Purdy MVP futures ticket for an early cash out before this week. That looks like a brilliant move right now.
