The CJ CUP Byron Nelson Preview

Donning a new title sponsor, the CJ CUP Byron Nelson does not have the deepest field. Headlining the field is Texas native Jordan Spieth, the only player ranked within the top 20 in the world. He missed this event last year but is back and looking to top his runner-up finish in 2022 at TPC Craig Ranch.

Joining Spieth is defending champion Jason Day. Additional notable names in the field this week are Tom Kim, Will Zalatoris, Adam Scott, Si Woo Kim and Sungjae Im.

It may not be a heavy-hitting field, but these guys hold respect in the game.

Spieth is the odds-out favorite for the week at +1400. Close behind him is Day at +1800.

The Aussie won this event last year to end his five-year-long drought. Day also won at the Grant Thornton Invitational alongside Lydia Ko to end his year on a high note. In 2024, Day has recorded 3 top 10s and 4 top 25s. He is coming off a T18 at the RBC Heritage. The 13-time PGA Tour winner’s best finish was at the Genesis Invitational with a solo eighth.

Speith, meanwhile, has had an up-and-down season with just three top 10s in 10 starts. His last five events featured three missed cuts, a T10 at the Valero Texas Open and a T39 at RBC Heritage.

He plays TPC Craig Ranch well though, so look for him to step up his game in his home state.

Si Woo Kim is another name to watch. He has seven top 25s this season, but he finished T2 last year at this event, shooting four straight rounds in the 60s, including a final round 63. The 28-year-old has a strong chance of coming out on top this week in Texas.

CJ CUP Experience at TPC Craig Ranch

For those that will be in attendance in Texas, you have a treat in store.

Of course, the stadium-style 17th hole will be the talk of the tournament. Ranch17, which provides a viewing deck the length of the hole, now has Tito’s Stillhouse Lounge and the Cadillac Club located within.

Also, for the first time at this event, fans can enjoy Korean cuisine through bibigo, a food brand within the CJ Group. Smash Burger Tacos will also be making its debut at TPC Craig Ranch, providing golf fans some unique and delicious eats.

Incredibly, all of the proceeds will be going to the Momentous Institute, an organization that provides innovative mental health services, education, and professional training to strengthen children, families, and communities.

It is just one way in which the CJ Group continues to give back through the game of golf.
