Derrick Henry grabbed a mic to salute Titans fans as he enters free agency

The Tennessee running back paid tribute to Titans fans following the upset of Jacksonville

Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry is set to become a free agent at the close of this season. And after the Titans upset the Jacksonville Jaguars, knocking their AFC South rivals out of the playoffs, one of teh game’s best running backs grabbed a microphone.

Seemingly to say goodbye.

Henry paid tribute to the Titans fans, thanking them for the “greatest eight years of my life:”

If this indeed was Henry’s swan song in Tennessee, it was quite the final game. As the Titans denied the Jaguars their second-straight AFC South title, and a spot in the playoffs, Henry had perhaps his best game of the season. Henry gained 153 yards — a season-high number — on 19 carries, and scored a touchdown in Tennessee’s 28-20 win.

It was just the fourth time this season Henry eclipsed the 100-yard mark in a game.

Should Henry move on from Tennessee, it is likely that more than a few team would be in the market for his services. On CBS Sports Bill Cowher made the case that teams who have playoff aspirations for the 2024 season would love to have Henry, and his ability to wear down teams in the closing minutes of a game.
