Another Matthew Stafford trade could be in the works.

The 2025 NFL Scouting Combine is underway in Indianapolis and prospects are starting to meet with the media. On Wednesday for example Penn State pass rusher Abdul Carter spoke early in the morning and talked about meeting with all the top teams in the draft as well as his desire to come off the board first in the 2025 NFL Draft.

But perhaps the name at the heart of every conversation is that of Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford.

Reports emerged over the weekend that the Rams have permitted Stafford to speak with other teams about a potential trade, in part to gauge the veteran quarterback’s value on the market. According to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport the two sides believed this would give the involved parties a “better understanding” of his value.

Now with the entire NFL world in Indianapolis, reports are emerging about who — and who not — will be in on a potential Stafford trade.

The New York Giants are interested

As many expected, the New York Giants are one of the teams that have already inquired about a potential trade for Stafford. According to New York Daily News Giants beat writer Pat Leonard, Stafford’s representatives met with Giants brass Tuesday in Indianapolis:

Speaking with the media on Tuesday Giants general manager Joe Schoen talked about making additions to the quarterback room, including adding a veteran even if the Giants draft a quarterback with the third-overall selection. However, Schoen demurred when asked specifically about Stafford:

ESPN’s Jordan Raanan, however, believes that Stafford is the team’s “top priority” at quarterback:

Tom Brady makes his pitch … or does he?

We’ve got a source-off!

Tom Brady is a man of many hats these days. In addition to his duties with FOX Sports, which included being on the call alongside Kevin Burkhardt for Super Bowl LIX, Brady is a minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders.

Who also need a quarterback.

According to reporting from FOX Sports NFL Insider Jordan Schultz, Brady hosted Stafford at his home in Montana, where “they spent time together and went skiing.”

In addition, according to Schultz “Brady has been actively trying to convince Stafford to join the Raiders:”

However, others have a much different viewing of the meeting in Montana:

Still, the Raiders hold the sixth-overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, and do need a quarterback. Brady has been highly complimentary of Shedeur Sanders these past few months, but Stafford in Las Vegas is an interesting idea.

The Cleveland Browns are interested “to some level”

Then there are the Cleveland Browns, who hold the second-overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. Cleveland still has Deshaun Watson on the books, but Watson is “likely [to] miss significant time during the 2025 season” after a “re-rupture” of his Achilles tendon, which he tore in October.

According to our Browns insider Jared Mueller, who is on the ground in Indianapolis, his sources in Cleveland indicate that the Browns have “some interest” in Stafford, but are “unlikely” to be in on a potential trade. According to Mueller “[t]he team is interested to some level but does not believe they are realistic options for a trade and new contract for Stafford.”

Mueller also reports that many believe that Miami quarterback Cam Ward is the pick for the Browns at No. 2.
