Aston Martin F1 confirmed that Felipe Drugovich will be back in 2025 as a reserve driver

Last week Aston Martin announced some senior-level changes to their Formula 1 team. Andy Cowell was introduced as the team’s CEO and Team Principal while former Team Principal Mike Krack was moved to a different trackside role, taking on the position of Chief Trackside Officer.

However, their driver lineup for the 2025 F1 season remains unchanged, with both Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll back for the season ahead.

You can add Felipe Drugovich to that list of unchanged team members.

Aston Martin confirmed on Monday that Drugovich would be back as a test and reserve driver for the team, a role he has filled in each of the past two F1 campaigns.

In a statement confirming the news, Krack hailed the Brazilian driver’s contributions over the past two seasons.

“Felipe has been a vital member of our team since joining, and we are very pleased to continue working with him into 2025 – he is a real asset. His contributions behind the scenes, particularly in the simulator and during test sessions, have been invaluable, and he does not put a foot wrong behind the wheel,” said Krack.

“Felipe’s dedication and feedback have played a crucial role in our progress, and we are confident he will continue to make a significant impact as part of our team.”

Drugovich pointed to the team’s long-term ambitions in the announcement.

“I’m obviously really pleased to be staying with Aston Martin Aramco for a third full season as Test and Reserve Driver,” said Drugovich. “There’s a lot of momentum at this team, and I’m excited to see what we can achieve together. The incredible new facilities at the AMR Technology Campus, including the brand-new simulator, demonstrate the ambition here, and I’m committed to being a part of Aston Martin Aramco’s long-term success.

“As always, I want to thank the team for their ongoing support.”

Drugovich’s duties with Aston Martin will need to wait, however. The driver will make his IMSA debut for Cadillac Whelen Racing at the upcoming 24 Hours of Daytona, later this month. Drugovich, who drove alongside Jack Aitken and Pipo Derani for Cadillac Whelen Racing at last year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans, will be the team’s fourth driver in Daytona.
