F1’s governing body unveiled the official entry list for the upcoming campaign

The 2024 Formula 1 season is going to be here before you know it.

The latest sign that F1 is closer to coming back than you think? The sport’s governing body unveiled the official entry list for the 2024 season on Friday. While the 20 drivers who are set to start the 2024 campaign remains unchanged from the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix — marking the first time in F1 history that the drivers who finished one season are the same group of drivers who will begin the next — there are some tweaks to the teams themselves.

Here is the official 2024 F1 Entry List, as unveiled by the FIA on Friday:

Astute observers will notice a few changes. First at Sauber, with the departure of Alfa Romeo. After six years in a partnership with Sauber Motorsport, Alfa Romeo is leaving F1 ahead of the team becoming an Audi works outfit in the 2026 season. That departure opened the door for a new sponsor to acquire naming rights, and Australian streaming service Kick is that company.

In a statement released on Friday, the team confirmed that Kick had acquired naming rights to the chassis for the upcoming season, and the team’s challenger for the 2024 campaign will be the KICK Sauber C44.

The team’s official name: Stake F1 Team Kick Sauber.

“Sauber has always been about innovation, breaking the mould and defying convention. The partnership with Kick.com is the latest and boldest display of the philosophy that drives us,” said Team Representative Alessandro Alunni Bravi. “Kick.com is redefining the way live streaming is done and they will adopt the same disruptive approach in the world of Formula One. With Kick.com, our goal is to make the next step in finding new and innovative ways to get closer to our fans.”

Over at Aston Martin, Cognizant is no longer the title sponsor for the team, although the technology giant remains as a partner. Energy company Aramco, already a title partner, is now the exclusive title partner for the team.

“We are very proud to continue and strengthen our successful partnership with Aramco,” said Lawrence Stroll, Executive Chairman of Aston Martin F1. “We already enjoy an important strategic relationship and their support as our title partner for the next five years is a clear demonstration of our shared ambition. Since 2022, they have played a key role in Aston Martin’s Formula One journey and their contribution will only become more significant in the years ahead.”

The final tweak comes at AlphaTauri. A rebranding has been rumored for a while now, and reports over the summer indicated that Hugo Boss was perhaps in line to become the team’s title sponsor for the 2024 campaign. However, those discussions seem to have failed to bear fruit, and in recent weeks it was reported that the team would run under the name “Racing Bulls.”

That notion appears to be coming to fruition, given the name for the team next season: Scuderia AlphaTauri RB.
