One of F1’s favorite characters is charting a new course

One of Formula 1’s most beloved characters is headed somewhere new.

Hollywood.

CBS is currently developing a “workplace comedy” show set in the world of sports. The project, which is still in the early stages of development, has one of F1’s current team principals serving as a non-writing executive producer.

Haas Team Principal Guenther Steiner.

According to Deadline, the project “will be set in the world of sports with a ‘Steineresque’ boss at the head of the ensemble.”

Steiner became something of a worldwide phenomenon thanks to the success of the Netflix docuseries Drive to Survive. The series, which debuted in 2019, brought viewers and fans deeper inside the world of F1. Steiner grew to be a central figure, as the series followed Haas through various driver lineups, as well as an ill-fated title sponsorship deal with Rich Energy.

The most recent season of Drive to Survive featured Steiner right at the outset, as the Haas boss visited then-Ferrari Team Principal Mattia Binotto at his vineyard. The opening sequence — featuring the two F1 bosses in a tiny Fiat — is the stuff of legend.

No word if such a scene will make it into this new sitcom.
