Legendary composer Hans Zimmer was the real winner of the Austrian Grand Prix

The 2024 Formula 1 Austrian Grand Prix had a clear, if surprising, winner.

Hans Zimmer.

Sure George Russell capitalized on a late-stage incident involving Lando Norris and Max Verstappen to storm to victory, the first win of the year for Mercedes and the second of Russell’s career. But the true winner at Red Bull Ring this weekend was Zimmer, the legendary composer and producer.

As proof we first offer this incredible scene of Zimmer pre-race, helping perform the Austrian national anthem:

As if that was not enough, Zimmer was part of the podium celebration honoring Russell and Mercedes following their stunning victory. And the legendary composer stuck around for the champagne celebration, taking it all in:

However, Formula 1 fans have seen Zimmer before, and they are set to see him again. The legendary German composer created the score for “Rush,” the 2013 film that depicted the rivalry between Niki Lauda and James Hunt, and it was announced during the Austrian Grand Prix that he will be providing the score for the upcoming Brad Pitt-Lewis Hamilton F1 movie, which is set to be released in the summer of 2025.

What a legend.
