Jalen Duren rode Walker Kessler like a big horse after dunking on him

Jaren Duren’s horsey ride a new highlight for Pistons

Something pretty amazing happened Wednesday night when the Utah Jazz hosted the Detroit Pistons.

No, not the fact that the Jazz tied a franchise record with 154 points in their 154-148 overtime win over Detroit. No, not the fact that the hard-luck Pistons set a new franchise record by scoring 148 points in the loss. And no, not the fact that both teams scored over 140 points, as the NBA saw five teams score over 140 points on Wednesday night, a league first.

No, it was this play late in the first half, when Jaren Duren threw down over Walker Kessler, and then tried to ride him like a rodeo cowboy:

Duren takes a feed from Cade Cunningham, one of the Detroit PG’s team-high 13 assists, and finishes over Kessler to give Detroit a 68-60 lead late in the second quarter. After the dunk, Duren hangs on the rim for a moment to give Kessler time to clear out, but when Duren drops off, he ends up on Kessler’s shoulders.

So, the Detroit center does what comes natural, and holds on for a quick ride before getting dumped to the floor. He seemed to enjoy the moment, however:

Detroit held a 68-66 halftime lead, and led late in the fourth quarter, putting their fourth win of the season in sight. But they needed a three from Alec Burks at the buzzer just to force overtime, where they eventually suffered their 31st loss of the season.
