The 49ers have sent starting running back Jordan Mason to the locker room late in the first half against the Cowboys.

Third quarter update: Jordan Mason is back on the sideline with the team and has his helmet, but Isaac Guerendo took the snaps on the first series of the third quarter.

Halftime update: As the 49ers went to the locker room at halftime, head coach Kyle Shanahan told NBC that they’ll see if Mason will be able to come back in the second half. He didn’t offer any more than that, but it seems likely Mason underwent some additional exams to determine the extent of the injury. Two weeks ago, he suffered a sprained AC joint that left him day-to-day. He did not miss any games, but one has to wonder if this is an aggravation.

Status update: The 49ers announced just before halftime that Jordan Mason has a shoulder injury and is questionable to return.

The San Francisco 49ers have dealt with significant injury regression in 2024, and they’ve got another one to deal with in Week 8. Running back Jordan Mason has gone to the locker room late in the second quarter. Isaac Guerendo has taken over for him in the 49ers backfield.

Mason appeared to suffer an upper body injury in the first quarter against the Dallas Cowboys. He was down for a couple minutes before heading to the sideline. He kept his helmet on and it seemed like everything was fine when he returned to the game. However, he has since left again and it’s unclear what his status is for the second half.

Mason left the game with six rushes for 18 yards. Guerendo has quickly secured 38 yards on three carries.

More to come.
