Jordan Travis’ devastating tweet captures Florida State’s College Football Playoff sorrow.
Jordan Travis was the lifeblood of Florida State football. The quarterback started 38 games for the Seminoles over his career, and established himself as one of the most prolific QBs in the recent history of the program. Travis was on his way to leading FSU to an undefeated season when tragedy struck against North Alabama on Nov. 18: the senior suffered a season-ending knee injury that ended his time in college football.
Florida State could have rolled over without its star QB, but instead the ‘Noles kept winning. FSU beat Florida to close the regular season in a game that saw backup QB Tate Rodemaker go down, and then beat Louisville in the ACC Championship Game with third string QB Brock Glenn.
The ‘Noles finished 13-0 as ACC champs. Somehow, they were still left out of the College Football Playoff in favor of one-loss Alabama and Texas. Everyone around the Florida State program is devastated that they won’t get the right to play for a national title, but no one is more upset than Travis. The QB sent this tweet after the bracket was announced.
devastated. heartbroken. In so much disbelief rn, I wish my leg broke earlier in the season so y’all could see this team is much more than the quarterback. I thought results matter. 13-0 and this roster matches up across any team in those top 4 rankings. I am so sorry. Go Noles!

The College Football Playoff committee didn’t think Florida State was one of the four best teams in the country despite finishing undefeated in a Power-5 conference. Alabama lost to Texas early in the season before beating No. 1 Georgia in the SEC Championship Game. Texas lost to Oklahoma in the middle of the season, but blew out Oklahoma State in the Big 12 title.
If Travis stayed healthy, Florida State is almost certainly in the Playoff. Instead, the QB injury was used against FSU to say they weren’t one of the four best teams. How is that fair when they won’t undefeated in a major conference?
Travis saying “I wish my leg broke earlier in the season” is the saddest sentence possible. He was an incredible leader and damn good quarterback during his time at FSU. This just isn’t fair.
