LaMelo Ball’s horrible driving allegedly broke an 11-year-old’s foot

LaMelo’s driving is out of control.

A mother in Charlotte is seeking compensation after an October incident left her son with a broken foot. LaMelo Ball, point guard for the Hornets, was leaving the Spectrum Center on October 7 when he allegedly ran over the boy’s foot as he stood by the player parking lot hoping to get an autograph.

Angell Joseph, who was 11-years-old at the time of the alleged incident, was desperately trying to get the attention of Ball — who young fans in particular flock to following games. The boy’s mother, Tamaria McRae explained how at first she just thought her son dropped something, before realizing how serious the incident was.

“[Angell] was like, ‘LaMelo, I love you. I love you, sign my … give me your autograph. Can you sign it for me?’ McRae told Action 9′s Jason Stoogenke. […] “I just seen my son kind of go down and I thought maybe he had dropped something.”

It’s the family’s allegation that Ball sped off, ignoring the fans, and ran over Angell’s foot in the process. A police report filed on scene did not include Ball’s insurance information, which has now led the family to seek legal action to recover medical bills sustained from the incident.

This isn’t the first time Ball has been accused of driving recklessly. In fact, it’s a major habit for the Charlotte point guard. Numerous videos exist of him speeding out of the player parking lot, even running red lights in a variety of luxury sports cars and trucks that he owns.

This latest incident comes at a time the Hornets are desperately trying to engender good will with the city of Charlotte, turn the page on a new era, and bring a winning culture back to the Queen City. Even though this incident allegedly happened last fall, it’s bad PR at the worst time for the team and Ball.

The Hornets have not made a comment on the lawsuit at this time.
