Miami Dolphins FS Jevon Holland just stunned the Jets on Black Friday

Jets backup QB Tim Boyle threw a Pick-Six on a Hail Mary

Up in the announcer’s booth above MetLife Stadium, Kirk Herbrtreit summed it up this way:

“If there was ever a play to sum up an entire season, it was that for the New York Jets.”

Despite being down to Tim Boyle as their starting quarterback, the New York Jets trailed only 10-6 ahead of the final play of the first half against the Miami Dolphins in the first-ever Black Friday NFL game. While the Dolphins got out to an early 10-0 lead, the Jets cut into that advantage when defensive back Brandin Echols stepped in front of a Tua Tagovailoa pass intended for Braxton Berrios:

The extra point attempt was no good, but the Jets were within four.

They actually had a chance to take the lead on the final play of the half. After D.J. Reed intercepted Tagovailoa with just seconds remaining in the half, the Jets put Tim Boyle and the offense back into the game for a final-second Hail Mary attempt.

That is when absolute disaster happened for New York:

Miami safety Jevon Holland pulled in the Hail Mary attempt at the Dolphins’ own one-yard line, and immediately though he had a chance at a huge return.

He did just that, returning it 99 yards for a stunning Pick-Six.

As you can see, it was a smart play by Holland to try and advance this. With the Jets flooding the end zone on this Hail Mary attempt, the fastest New York players on the field are behind him. That means the biggest threats to a big return are Boyle, and running back Breece Hall. But Holland picks up a few blocks, and finishes it off with a play for the ages.
