No. 1 2026 RB talent Savion Hiter provides update on recruitment, lists top 4 schools

The top recruit has 25 offers so far, and breaks down where he is looking to take his talents next.

When it comes to the 2026 recruiting class, four-star running back Savion Hiter has been one of the most highly-regarded players in the cycle, accumulating 25 offers thus far, including from a bevy of SEC and Big Ten schools.

Considered the No. 1 running back and a top-20 recruit in the cycle by On3, Hiter recently took a game visit out to Tennessee back at the start of November, where he got to soak in the electric environment for the first time in a few years.

“The Vols is a great place to be,” Hiter shared on Sunday. “Their environment is crazy. I mean, I haven’t been there since my freshman year, so I just feel like I needed to get up there, see them again…[Running backs] coach [De’Rail] Sims, he’s a great coach, and I needed to see [Head] Coach [Josh] Heupel. I didn’t really get to talk to him my first time being there, so it was great to talk to him.”

Tennessee isn’t the only top school pursuing Hiter, as the running back has also garnered significant interest from Michigan, especially as of late.

“They stand pretty high,” Hiter said of the Wolverines. “I mean, since they offered me, it’s been up there. I mean, I already had the relationship with [running backs] coach [Tony] Alford coming from Ohio State, so it was good.

“[Their intensity] really has [picked up as of late]. “Like, from when I first started getting recruited and until now, it’s been really crazy.”

As junior days start to get set up, Hiter has narrowed down his list of schools to four: Tennessee, Michigan, Georgia, and Ohio State. All four of those schools are expected to earn an official visit from the star running back, setting up for a major recruiting battle in the rising senior class.

Hiter plans to take unofficial visits to the schools once again in the spring to get a better sense of his situation, but the likelihood of official visits is a new twist, as there was speculation that the running back could have an early commitment before.

NIL has been the talk of the town, influencing a number of recruitments in today’s world, with certain top recruits getting significant deals as freshmen in college.

How does that play a factor in Hiter’s recruitment as he starts to narrow down his list?

“I’m not really that worried about [NIL], but it does factor a little bit into my recruiting process and stuff like that,” the running back acknowledged. “But, I don’t really let it affect me like that. Because no matter where you go, especially with Rev Share and everything.”

At the moment, Hiter does not have any visits for January planned out, but that could still be a possibility going forward with Junior Days coming up. With all four schools expected to get an official visit, the order of those visits could be integral in the process with each team targeting the four-star as their top priority at the position in the 2026 class.
