Kyle Hamilton dropped a game-winning pick, and Browns beat the Ravens on the next play
The Baltimore Ravens are once again one of the best teams in the AFC. The Cleveland Browns are one of the worst teams in football to start the 2024 season. There’s no such thing as an easy game between the two teams despite how it may seem on paper, and that once again proved to be true in an instant classic Week 8 thriller.
The Browns beat the Ravens, 29-24, in the first start of the season for backup QB Jameis Winston. It’s only Cleveland’s second win of the year, and it happened in stunning fashion with a little help from one of the Ravens’ best players.
The Browns took the lead late in the third quarter when Winston found Cedric Tillman for a 22-yard touchdown strike. The Ravens would get the lead back with just over two minutes remaining in regulation on a two-yard touchdown run from Derrick Henry. That set the stage for a dramatic finish.
As Winston got the ball back to lead a comeback attempt, he threw a pass directly to Ravens standout safety Kyle Hamilton. An interception would have ended the game for a Baltimore win. Somehow, Hamilton dropped it.
Drops like that have a way of coming back to haunt you. It happened to the Ravens on the very next play.
Winston unleashed deep pass that landed in Tillman’s hands for a 38-yard touchdown that proved to be the game-winner. Watch it here:
Hamilton made an awesome play earlier in the game to sack Winston and force a fumble. Unfortunately, it’s hard to remember that after he dropped a game-winning interception.
The Browns improve to 2-6, while the Ravens fall to 5-3. The NFL always keeps us on our toes.
