Work sucks … unless you’re singing “All the Small Things” with a sold out Padres crowd during the MLB Playoffs.
The San Diego Padres might be the hottest team in baseball as the 2024 MLB Playoffs heat up. Blink-182 is somehow still one of the hottest rock bands in the world, selling out arenas everywhere more than two decades after their peak. Blink got its start in the early ‘90s playing pop-punk in and around San Diego. The trio always seemed to identify with skateboarding far more than traditional sports, but maybe each of them had a Tony Gwynn poster on their walls.
The Padres and Blink-182 are both having a surprising renaissance at right now, and the two joined forces during San Diego’s thrilling victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 3 of the NLDS. Tom DeLonge is back in the fold for Blink after spending a few years declassifying federal UFO videos, and on Tuesday he showed up at Petco Park to lead the crowd through a rousing rendition of the band’s signature hit, “All the Small Things.”

As someone who was there when it dropped, it’s honestly unbelievable that “All the Small Things” has had this much staying power. Smarter people than me have made the case that it’s basically the perfect pop-rock song, and it’s so cool to see 40K people screaming it during a hyper intense MLB Playoff game.
DeLonge threw out the first pitch for the Padres earlier in these playoffs. He was in the stands for Game 3 loving life as San Diego pulled out a huge victory.
The Padres now lead the series 2-1 over the Dodgers. If they advance, they will face the winner of the Mets vs. Phillies for the right to go to the World Series.
Maybe Tom can bring out Robert Smith to do his verse on ”All of This” if the Padres make it that far? Here’s hoping.
