The Nuggets’ rookie couldn’t believe his eyes (or hands).
Victor Wembanyama remains the greatest unicorn in sports. The kind of player you pull up clips of on your phone and show them to anyone, just to prove he exists. Wemby is inspiring, and it turns out that carries over to NBA players too.
The Spurs and Nuggets played on Sunday night, and it was the first chance for Denver rookie Jalen Pickett to get up close to the Spurs rookie. He couldn’t believe his eyes … or Wemby’s hands.
It took one handshake to leave Pickett awe struck. So much so that he couldn’t stop talking about how far Wemby’s fingers reached up his wrist, like a wriggling snake. To be fair, when you have hands like this I’m not sure I would have reacted any differently either.

This man’s hands are so big it’s like he’s playing in catcher’s mitts. I don’t blame Pickett at all for being taken aback and wanting to talk about Wemby’s big old paws.
