Hovland is on the verge of greatness as the Norwegian eyes a DP World Tour Championship after he won the PGA Tour Championship.

Viktor Hovland is in contention to win another Tour Championship this year.

Hovland won his first FedEx Cup, capturing the PGA Tour Championship earlier this fall. Now he has a shot at winning another, the DP World Tour Championship.

“It would be really cool. It’s been a crazy year. You know, it feels like it has been the off-season. I have had six weeks off,” Hovland said after his round Saturday. “This is another big one and would be nice to have on the resumé, and I feel like I’m playing some good golf.”

Hovland sits one shot behind the 54-hole leader Matt Wallace.

The Norwegian carded a bogey-free 66 on Saturday to sit at 15-under. He made six birdies on the day and came close to a hole-out eagle on the 10.

Hovland has gone 69-66-66 to keep himself in the hunt. He may have taken some time off since the Ryder Cup, but his game is still as good as ever.

The 6-time PGA Tour winner has been nearly perfect in his last four starts. Hovland won the BMW Championship, took home the Tour Championship win, tied for fifth at Wentworth and went 3-1-1 at the Ryder Cup.

He and Ludvig Aberg destroyed Brooks Koepka and Scottie Scheffler in a historic 9 & 7 Foursome match to secure a point for the Europeans.

Hovland has an argument for being the best player in the world right now.

It would solidify that title even more if he were to run down Wallace. Wallace fired off a bogey-free 60 on Saturday, including nine straight birdies to come home in 27 strokes. He won’t just have to worry about Wallace though, as fellow Ryder Cup teammate Tommy Fleetwood is tied with him in second.
