Stephen Nedoroscik is headed to the dancing floor this fall

Earlier this month Stephen Nedoroscik captured the imagination of sports fans across the globe with his performance in the men’s gymnastics competition at the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics. Nedoroscik became known as the “Pommel Horse Guy” during the Games, with his performance in the discipline helping the United States men’s gymnastics team capture a team bronze medal. He then earned a bronze in the individual pommel horse competition.

Now, Nedoroscik is headed to his next competition: Dancing with the Stars.

The dance competition introduced Nedoroscik as one of the stars in a post on social media Thursday morning:

In a subsequent post Nedoroscik was asked what his favorite kind of dancing is, and he replied “breakdancing,” before putting on a demonstration:

The announcement made Nedoroscik the first star to be announced. Dancing with the Stars will unveil the full cast early next month.

Nedoroscik also earned the moniker of the “Clark Kent of gymnastics” during the Paris Summer Olympics. He has two different eye conditions — coloboma (which causes light sensitivity) and strabismus (which causes crossed eyes) — which require him to wear the glasses that have become a hallmark. But he removes those before competing, because in his words “…if I keep them on, they’re gonna fly somewhere.”

Nedoroscik removing those thick-rimmed glasses before competing is what drew the Clark Kent comparisons. Will we see something similar on Dancing with the Stars?
