Which wide receivers will shine in Week 2 for your fantasy football teams? We’ll take a look at all of them in our PPR rankings.
We’re only two games into the season, but it feels like Week 17 with all the injuries already piling up. Wide receivers have been hit hard, especially if you are a wide receiver that plays for the Rams. But, we persist and hit the waiver wire or start a wide receiver prayer circle to keep our players healthy.
Week 3 wide receiver injuries
Cooper Kupp, Rams
Kupp has a significant ankle injury that could land him on I.R., while Puka Nacua is already on I.R, set to miss 5-7 games with a knee injury. It can’t get a whole lot worse for Matthew Stafford and company. Kyren Williams will remain a big part of the offense while Demarcus Robinson, Tyler Johnson, Tutu Atwell and Jordan Whittington look to be the Top 4 receivers, while Colby Parkinson leads at tight end. It’s an ugly situation, but I’m happy to play Demarcus Robinson going forward, in hopes that he takes over the lead role.
Deebo Samuel, 49ers
Samuel strained his calf in Week 2 and will miss “multiple weeks” according to the 49ers. It doesn’t sound like he’ll go on I.R. at this point, so he shouldn’t miss more than three games, but we’ll have to see. This injury likely funnels big workloads for Jordan Mason, Brandon Aiyuk and George Kittle this week in a good matchup against the Rams. Jauan Jennings should also see a bump.
A.J. Brown, Eagles
Brown is expected to be out multiple weeks with his hamstring injury. How long he’s out exactly isn’t known, but we do know that DeVonta Smith will continue to be the WR1 in Philadelphia and a must start, while the rest of the receivers are all too risky at this point.
Tee Higgins, Bengals
Higgins appears to be close to returning and if he can return this week, he gets a great matchup with the Commanders. His presence would go a long way towards getting the Bengals offense going in the right direction.
Justin Jefferson, Vikings
Jefferson suffered a quad contusion in Week 2, but it appears he avoided a longterm injury at this point. As long as he’s practicing on Friday I’d expect he’ll play against the Texans in Week 3.
Jordan Addison, Vikings
Addison missed Week 2 with an ankle injury, but the team is hopeful he can return for Week 3.
Amon-Ra St. Brown, Lions
St. Brown’s Week 2 injury appears to not be as bad as it looked. He reportedly has a contusion and was dealing with some cramping as well after getting hit on the knee. He should be limited in practice, but he’s played through injuries like this before and he likely will again unless it’s worse than reported.
Week 3 wide receiver sleepers
Demarcus Robinson, Rams vs. 49ers
The Rams are going to have trouble moving the ball without their top two receivers, but we know Robinson can play and the 49ers pass defense has been bad this season. They’ve allowed huge games to Justin Jefferson (makes sense) and Allen Lazard (doesn’t make sense), ranking them third-worst in allowing PPR points to wide receivers. In total, they’ve given up 22 receptions for 369 yards and four touchdowns to wide receivers this season.
Amari Cooper, Browns vs. Giants
The Giants gave up a couple touchdowns to Vikings wide receivers in Week 1 and then had better stats against Jayden Daniels’ wide receivers, but overall they aren’t getting much pressure outside Dexter Lawrence and their defense can be beaten. Cooper has seen a great workload in Cleveland, but some drops and poor throws have killed his production. But, he still has 17 targets through two games, DeShaun Watson looked better in Week 2 and he has a good matchup to get back on track.
