Watch the Super Bowl crowd explode on Kendrick Lamar’s ‘A Minor’ line during ‘Not Like Us’
The beef between Kendrick Lamar and Aubrey “Drake” Graham is officially over.
In what will be remembered for years to come as the climax of the biggest moment in Hip-Hop possibly ever, Kendrick Lamar solidified himself as the clear victor during his halftime performance at the Super Bowl. Lamar has been taking a victory lap for months at this point, which includes winning every Grammy he was nominated for just a week ago.
However, not even a clean sweep and five Grammys could top continuing his embarrassment of his biggest rival during the biggest spectacle in sports every year. Many questioned if Lamar would even perform the biggest hit of his career due to Drake’s current lawsuit against his own label UMG, but Lamar and the NFL made it extremely clear they were not concerned with any litigation.
Kendrick really said this in front of all of America he’s actually a psychopath pic.twitter.com/uMbojWLaEe
Not only did Lamar perform ‘Not Like Us,’ his entire halftime performance was everything we wanted it to be. “We” not including Drake and his most ardent and loyal supporters, obviously. A surprise appearance by Uncle Samuel L Jackson was an unexpected yet hilarious twist and clearly the “special surprise guest” that was teased prior. SZA sounded immaculate during her part of the performance and left us wishing we could listen to her sing for a little while longer, but we weren’t here for singing.
We were here to watch the demise of another man in front of the world and that’s exactly what we got.
Your ears were not deceiving you when you watched this performance at home. That is an entire stadium full of people from all different walks of life screaming “A MINORRRRRRR!” at the maximum volume their bodies will allow in complete unison. This happened after Kendrick Lamar looked into the camera and said, “Say Drake, I hear you like em young.’ to every man, woman and child that tuned in across the globe.
This is as diabolical as it is impressive. There have been plenty of diss songs across rap history that have captivated the masses, Drake is even responsible for one them! This is the only time we’ve seen a NFL stadium full of people reveling in the lyrical execution of another man. Delighting in his destruction so much they are screaming at the top of their lungs in concert to make sure the point is driven home.
Kendrick Lamar has captivated the world multiple times over since his career began, but what happened during his Super Bowl halftime performance solidified himself as one of the most prolific and consistent artists of his generation, and quite possibly the greatest hater we will ever see.
