The Saints have fired Dennis Allen after a seven-game losing streak
After two weeks of the 2024 NFL season, the New Orleans Saints were the toast of the NFL.
New Orleans began the year with two straight wins, blowing out the Carolina Panthers and the Dallas Cowboys by a combined score of 91-29. Those wins put the rest of the league on early notice, and had us at SB Nation declaring them the story of the season.
That story has taken a turn.
Since that 2-0 start, the Saints have lost seven straight games, including a loss Sunday to the Panthers. Yes, that same Panthers team that New Orleans blew out back in Week 1. Along the way New Orleans has lost games to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (51-27), the Denver Broncos (33-10), and the Los Angeles Chargers (26-8).
And now Dennis Allen has lost his job.
According to multiple reports, the Saints have fired Allen after Sunday’s loss to Carolina:
