Veteran quarterback Joe Flacco showed off the wheels against the Jaguars
Earlier this summer we shared with you an incredible moment from joint practices between the Indianapolis Colts and the Cincinnati Bengals. During a red zone practice segment, veteran quarterback Joe Flacco scrambled for a touchdown, a moment that had everyone laughing … on both sides of the football.
It is one thing for the 39-year-old Flacco to scramble for a big play during training camp when he is wearing the red “no contact” jersey, but that is not something you would expect to see from him in a game, right?
Right?
Wrong.
Sunday Flacco got the start for the Colts against the Jacksonville Jaguars with Anthony Richardson sidelined with a hip injury. With Indianapolis facing a 3rd-and-long situation in the fourth quarter, Flacco dropped to pass.
But finding nobody open downfield, the veteran quarterback pulled the ball down and took off, not stopping until he had ripped off a 21-yard gain:
And did you hear that? The laughter was back because as Flacco cut towards the left side of the field Adam Archuleta, on the call for CBS Sports, could not help but laugh.
For those wondering, that is Flacco’s longest run since 2017, when he gained 25 yards on a run against the Houston Texans. Flacco’s career-long run of 38 yards came back in 2008, his rookie season.
Do not despair, Adam, you were not the only one laughing.
