If you need a starting offensive tackle, this 2025 free agent class is probably not for you.
It’s a down year for the offensive tackle market in free agency and it was made even smaller in December when the Broncos locked up Garett Bolles. The 2024 NFL Draft has a few first-round prospects, which could further drive down the need for free agency at the position.
With that being said, there are some free agents to look through. We polled a group of writers from around SB Nation to gather consensus rankings about the players. While there are no unanimous picks among the bunch as folks value different WR traits, our groups stands out into some defined tiers.
We will remove players from the list as they re-sign with their current teams all the way up to the opening of free agency in March.
Others receiving votes: Trenton Brown, Jaylon Moore, Dan Moore, Mekhi Becton, Cornelius Lucas, D.J. Humphries
7. Dylan Radunz, Tennessee Titans
A former second-round pick, Radunz has played both tackle and guard in the NFL. He spent the 2024 season at right guard in Tennessee and is hitting free agency for the very first time this offseason.
5t. Patrick Mekari, Baltimore Ravens
Mekari has played center, guard, and tackle in the NFL, and on both sides of the line, so which list should he be on? I think that hurt him in the tackle rankings. He turns 28 this offseason, and if a team can find a permanent spot for him, he could grow into the role.
5t. Morgan Moses, New York Jets
Very experienced and very durable, Moses would be a solid addition to any offensive line if he keeps playing at age 34 in 2025.
4. Alaric Jackson, Los Angeles Rams
Jackson has kind of a rough past with both medical and personal conduct flags. The former undrafted free agent has been the primary starter for the Rams for two seasons, playing both guard and left tackle. His starting versatility will get him a nice contract with some team. UPDATE: Jackson re-signed with the Los Angeles Rams.
3. Cam Robinson, Minnesota Vikings
There was a big range for Robinson in our polling, from fourth on two lists all the way to outside of the top 10 on others. In 2024, he refused to enter a game for the Jacksonville Jaguars and was traded to the Minnesota Vikings. He was thrust immediately into the starting lineup and had a real bad day. If he can get his head right, the former second-round pick has been dependable at times, has 100 career starts under his belt, and is only 29.
2. Ronnie Stanley, Baltimore Ravens
Stanley received the most first-place votes in our poll, but also had some wide variance. A former All-Pro, Stanley was almost back to form, playing in every game for the Ravens in 2024 after missing significant time over the past four seasons. He’ll be 31 when he hits free agency but could be a plug-and-go starter.
1. Tyron Smith, New York Jets
It really says something about the class when the top consensus is 34 years old, but here we are. Smith received one of our first-place votes and was second on everyone else’s list. After spending 13 seasons with the Cowboys, Smith’s year with the Jets has had a few injuries.
