These notable PGA Tour players sit outside the Top 70 of the FedEx Cup standings as the two final regular season events remain.
Welcome to Playing Through’s morning ritual: Golf Talk Today.
Yesterday, we updated the top of the FedEx Cup standings and saw who is currently in the Top 30.
Today, we focus on the players at the opposite end of the spectrum—the ones who may not make it to the first playoff event in Memphis.
This season marks the second year under the new playoff rules.
The Top 125 used to make it into the first playoff event, but now it is just the Top 70. However, the PGA Tour’s new FedEx Cup Fall does offer some incentives for those who do not make it to Atlanta.
Nonetheless, Fifty-five spots are no longer available for the playoffs, making the competition even fiercer than before.
Let’s take a look at the more notable names ranked outside the Top 70 on the FedEx Cup standings, and then those ranked 10 spots inside the Top 70.

70. Davis Riley: 621 pts.
Of the guys listed above, 10 are in the 3M Open field. Granted, some guys will be in Paris for the 2024 Olympics, so they chose not to play.
Players around the FedEx Cup bubble in the Olympics next week are:
— Victor Perez, France
— Min Woo Lee, Australia
— Nicolai Højgaard, Denmark
— Emiliano Grillo, Argentina
The Wyndham Championship is still left on the schedule to secure any FedEx Cup points they may need. However, some guys like Rickie Fowler are not playing in Minnesota but probably should since he is No. 100 in the FedEx Cup points. Taking the week off after a major is understandable, but it is make-or-break time for many of these guys.
A win this week for some of the guys will be enough to get them to Memphis, while others will need two good weeks to secure a spot. Stay tuned as we will continue to update the standings the closer it gets to the playoffs.
