Robert MacIntyre took home the Genesis Scottish Open in grand style. Here is how much he and the field made.
Robert MacIntyre made history on Sunday, becoming the second Scotsman to win Scotland’s National Open. He soared up the leaderboard on Saturday with a 7-under 63 and then posted a 3-under 67 on Sunday to best Adam Scott by one and join Colin Montgomerie in the history books.
It marked his second PGA Tour win of 2024, as he had another national open title to his name before this week, too. MacIntyre won the RBC Canadian Open in June.
But this week proved much more dramatic—an impressive accomplishment considering he won in Canada with his father as his caddie. MacIntyre birdied the 18th to finish at 18-under, playing the final five holes in 4-under-par. The Scotsman holed a long birdie putt on the 14th hole and then made a remarkable eagle on the par-5 16th, which vaulted him to 17-under overall and into a tie with Scott. He two-putted for par on 17 and holed a 22-footer on 18 to etch himself into Scottish Open lore.
With the Genesis Scottish Open having a $9 million purse, MacIntyre took home $1,620,000 and earned 500 FedEx Cup points.
Scott earned $918,000 for his runner-up finish. The 2023 Scottish Open champion, Rory McIlroy, tied for fourth alongside Ludvig Åberg, who struggled on Sunday and posted a 3-over. Åberg entered the final round with a two-shot advantage over MacIntyre.
