Solheim Cup: Charley Hull drops cold, hard facts about Europe’s deficit to Team USA

Hull is a Solheim Cup veteran who knows Europe still has a chance regardless of how many points it trails Team USA by.

Team Europe trails Team USA 10-6 heading into the Sunday singles matches at the Solheim Cup.

However, Charley Hull was a big piece of the Europeans success on Saturday as she won both her matches. As a veteran, she knows as long as they give themselves a chance, no one should doubt them.

After she and Esther Henseleit won their foursome match, she dropped the mic on playing marathon golf and how they may be down but their not beat.

“When you think you’re out of it, carry on grinding because it’s not over until the fat lady sings,” Hull said with a cheeky grin on her face.

Team Europe did not give up in the afternoon either as they split the four matches in Four Ball. Hull and her best friend Georgia Hall beat Allisen Corpuz and Lilia Vu 2 UP.

Despite being super close and on multiple Solheim Cups together, they had not played together.

“We’ve been asking for it for a while, for a few Solheims, to be honest, and finally got a chance in our last match to play together,” Hall said. “Yeah, I was obviously really happy to go out and have this experience with her. Like a lot of things we experience together.”

Hull kept the bold takes going after her afternoon match. With the Euros four points down to the Americans, they will have a lot of work to do in Sunday singles. However, she knows exactly what to do.

“Win your own point, have fun out there. Enjoy it. Just kick some ass,” Hull said.

Team USA has not won the Cup in seven years. They came out hot on Friday and won both sets 3-1. Saturday saw two splits. While they did not add to their lead they still found a way to keep that momentum.

However, Sunday singles can turn the entire event on its head. Last year Team USA and Team Europe sat at 8-8 after the first two days. Both teams won six points on Sunday and the Solheim Cup ended in a tie, but Europe retained the Cup because they won in 2021.

Hull and the other veterans on Team Europe know anything is possible on Sunday, so when she says what she does, it is from her experience.

Sunday at Robert Trent Jones Golf Club should be fun. Can Team Europe win their fourth straight Solheim Cup or will Team USA end their drought?
