Tua’s weight loss is being speculated on by his teammates.
One of the most startling images from the first week of mandatory minicamps in the NFL is the dramatic weight loss from Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa. Tua was often the butt of jokes for his weight closing out the 2023 season, and he turned up at camp quite literally looking like a a shadow of his former self.
A leaner, meaner Tua certainly can’t be a bad thing. Tagovailoa was already one of the best statistical quarterbacks in the NFL a year ago, throwing for 4,624 yards — the first time in his career he’s passed the 4,000 yard mark. If this weight loss means he’s more dynamic, then we could be in for something special in 2024.
Still, some are wondering how he managed to make this transformation so quickly, and Tyreek Hill thinks he has the answer: Ozempic.
“What I’m seeing out of Tua, man … I ain’t gonna lie. When I saw Tua at the Pro Bowl man I was kinda scared. Dude was fat as sh**. He was fat. He was chubby. I was like “hold on now, bruh…. bruh. Ryan Clark said you were kinda thicc, and he wasn’t lying.” Seeing him now and where he’s come from and how skinny he has gotten — what’s that stuff that everybody’s been taking? Ozempic? He HAD to be taking that, bruh.”
Is Tua on Ozempic? That’s really only his business — but whether he is or not, I’m sure he doesn’t really appreciate his No. 1 receiver saying it to the media like this. Meanwhile Jaylen Waddle has love no matter what, saying “I miss chubby Tua” when asked about his QB’s weight loss.
We’ll learn more as camp progresses and maybe Tua can confirm if he’s actually on Ozempic, or if hard work and exercise was his “hack.”
