Edwards is the fourth participating rookie, joining Angel Reese, Rickea Jackson, and Kate Martin. She’s also the third Mystics player to join Unrivaled, with Brittney Sykes and Shakira Austin being the other two.

In her rookie campaign, the No. 6 pick averaged 7.6 points and 5.6 rebounds on 49% shooting. She averaged 21.8 minutes, starting 17 of 34 contests. Edwards was also a member of the Canadian Olympic team.

At least two more players are slated to be announced in the coming weeks, with Unrivaled set to begin in January in Miami. The 3×3 basketball league, co-founded by fellow University of Connecticut alumni Napheesa Collier and Breanna Stewart, will include six teams that play twice a week over the course of eight weeks. The league aims to provide an opportunity for some of the best WNBA players in the world to stay in the U.S. rather than go overseas — while also provided players a minimum $100,000 salary and equity in the league itself.

Unrivaled, which unveiled its six club names last week, is reportedly attempting to recruit Caitlin Clark to join after signing a massive media rights deal with TNT earlier this month.

Edwards is the first Canadian player to commit to Unrivaled, and is one of only a handful international players to join. Her participation is sure to help draw additional young UConn fans, while also bolstering the league’s frontcourt talent.
