Which wide receivers will shine in Week 7 for your fantasy football teams? We’ll take a look at all of them in our PPR rankings.
Welcome to Week 7, or as I’m calling it, wide receiver pre-pre-trade deadline. Davante Adams is now a Jet and Amari Cooper is now a Bill. Of course Aaron Rodgers had nothing to do with anything. He’s never even heard of Robert Saleh or Davante Adams!
But before we get to Week 7, let’s take a quick look at who the top receivers were. The Buccaneers, led by Baker Mayfield, continue to throw the ball a ton and this week Chris Godwin was the breakout, as he led the league in wide receiver fantasy points, catching 11 passes for 125 yards and two touchdowns! This huge game came after three down ones, so it was nice to see him rise back up. The slot role has been good to him, as has a pass-first offense.
Both Garrett Wilson and Allen Lazard were Top 4 PPR receiver plays last week, showing that Aaron Rodgers can facilitate fantasy points for more than one receiver. Insert Davante Adams. Will Rodgers have to lay off the targets to Lazard? It would seems so, but we shall see.
Week 7 wide receiver bye weeks
CeeDee Lamb, Jalen Tolbert, D.J. Moore, Keenan Allen, Rome Odunze
Week 7 wide receiver injuries/trades
Marvin Harrison Jr., Cardinals
Harrison suffered a brain injury in Week 6 and will need to clear concussion protocol before their Monday night matchup with the Chargers. The extra day should help, but there is no guarantee he will be cleared in time. Trey McBride becomes the go-to receiver while Michael Wilson would get a bump.
Chris Olave, Saints
Olave suffered a brain injury in Week 6 and appears unlikely to be cleared in time for the Saints Thursday night matchup with the Broncos.
Rashid Shaheed, Saints
Shaheed injured his knee in Week 6 and will need to be cleared for Week 7. The extent of the injury is hard to know at this point, but he has been DNP in the first two practices. If Olave and Shaheed can’t go, the Saints will be down to wide receivers Bub Means, Cedrick Wilson, and Mason Tipton, and tight ends Juwan Johnson and Foster Moreau as the main pass catchers outside of Alvin Kamara.
Amari Cooper, Bills
Cooper was traded to the Bills this week. He gets a huge upgrade going from DeShaun Watson to Josh Allen, but how quickly he gets in-synch with the offense is hard to know. His presence helps the offense overall.
As for the Browns, David Njoku and Jerry Jeudy appear are the most-likely players to see a boost if the Browns can keep from completely quitting.
Malik Nabers, Giants
Nabers has missed two games with a brain injury, so it’s impossible to know where he is in his recovery just yet. If he can get out onto the practice field early in the week, he should be on track to return.
Davante Adams, Jets
Adams should be better off with Aaron Rodgers throwing to him, while Garrett Wilson will likely see fewer targets, but his efficiency should also go up. I’m not too worried about either, but we should expect Allen Lazard and Tyler Conklin to have more trouble putting up consistent fantasy numbers.
As for the Raiders, Brock Bowers should be the No. 1 target and remain a strong tight end play while Tre Tucker and Jakobi Meyers should fight it out for fantasy relevancy behind Bowers.
Cooper Kupp, Rams
Kupp appears close to returning from I.R., per Ian Rapoport. Nothing is set in stone yet, but if all goes well he could return this week, while Puka Nacua is still a few weeks away. He returns to must start status as soon as he returns to the starting lineup.
Mike Williams, Jets
Williams is on the trade block after the team acquired Davante Adams from the Raiders and Aaron Rodgers threw him under the bus.
Michael Pittman, Colts
Pittman is dealing with a back injury that he was able to play through last week. But, he told reporters its something they’ll have to manage and it could sideline him at some point.
Dontayvion Wicks, Packers
Wicks suffered a shoulder injury in Week 6 and is “week-o’week,” per Jordan Schultz. That should mean he misses this week against the Texans. His absence would likely help Christian Watson the most.
Week 7 wide receiver sleepers
Demario Douglas, Patriots vs. Jaguars
Douglas appears to be Drake Maye’s favorite target, as Douglas led the team with nine targets last week against the Texans and the second-most was tight end Hunter Henry with five. He also led the team in receptions and targets, as he caught six for 92 yards and a touchdown. The Jaguars defense has been a cheat code for fantasy players this season and they are favored, which should mean plenty of passing from the Patriots once again.
Jordan Addison, Vikings vs. Lions
The Lions defense will be without Adrian Hutchinson, which should make life much easier for Sam Darnold. Addison’s return from injury went well as he rushed for a touchdown and caught another in Week 4 against the Packers. Last week against a good Jets defense didn’t go as well, but I like this matchup against the Lions in what should be a high-scoring affair. The Lions currently rank 30th in fantasy points allowed to wide receivers.
