3 Christmas wishes for the 2024 PGA Tour major championship season

Santa Claus loves to grant wishes this time of year, so Big Guy, here are 3 PGA Tour hopes for the 2024 major championship season.

Christmas is almost here, so it’s time to gather the wishes for Santa Claus and make sure he gets them.

This year saw a lot of changes to the PGA Tour and golf in general. The majors were fantastic in 2023, but something was missing — Tiger Woods. Granted, he physically couldn’t be there, but it wasn’t the same.

After the Masters dropped their Christmas promo, it got us thinking about next year’s majors.

Our wishes are about the four biggest events in golf each year. This upcoming season could feature some of the most interesting majors yet, so why not focus on them?

A genuine Christmas desire needs a little magic to make it happen. Why not use some enchanting sorcery and hope Santa can make them happen.

3. Rory McIlroy ends his major championship drought

It has been 10 years since Rory McIlroy won a major. In 2024, we wish that changes for him.

The last two seasons have seen him finish inside the Top 10 in seven of the eight majors he played, including two runner-ups at the Masters in 2022 and the U.S. Open in 2023.

Some don’t believe he will ever win another major championship, but McIlroy’s game is there. With it being a milestone year since his last major, it only seems right to wish for him to end that drought. Maybe in Augusta to complete the career grand slam?

2. Viktor Hovland wins his first major

Viktor Hovland is another player who has finished well in the majors recently but hasn’t quite gotten over the hump. His short game didn’t come together until the end of 2023. He won the BMW Championship and Tour Championship, the final two playoff events to win his first FedEx Cup.

By the time the majors come around, he should be in great form to contend. In order for people to start taking him seriously, Hovland needs a major championship.

1. Tiger Woods earns 83rd win and 16th major championship

People are excited after seeing Tiger Woods play two tournaments recently. He competed in the Hero World Challenge and later with his son Charlie at the PNC Championship.

At 82 victories, he is tied with Sam Snead for the most PGA Tour wins in history. We wish that in 2024, Woods will win his 83rd victory at one of the four majors.

Woods has done so much in his career, but becoming the winningest PGA Tour player and breaking Snead’s record has to be one of the top priorities for the soon-to-be 48-year-old.

He has a long way to go to contend and possibly win a major, but he has made progress. The 5-time Masters champion should be able to play more than he has in the last couple of years since his 2021 car wreck.

If he can get into a groove, watch out because Woods is the kind of player that can be in contention and stay there.

These are our three Christmas wishes for the PGA Tour in 2024. What are yours? Sound off in the comments below.
