Faldo took to social media once again after Rahm had a very poor performance at Augusta National.
Sir Nick Faldo is regarded as one of the more decorated and respected players in the history of professional golf. Faldo won three Masters Tournaments and three Open Championships during his illustrious career.
Suffice it to say that he knows what it takes to play at the highest level on the biggest stages.
Prior to last week’s 88th Masters Tournament, Faldo joined Sky Sports’ Golf Podcast and made some rather interesting remarks, particularly about LIV Golf and Jon Rahm.
When asked for his thoughts on Rahm’s preparedness, Faldo went in.
“I know he made comments that he watched Riviera and thought ‘I wish I was there.’ The Players was good, that was exciting. I bet he wished he was in there.”
“He has been playing resort courses in his shorts for the last couple of months. He hasn’t been tested… maybe he is not quite sharp enough.”
Then the tournament happened, as most of the 13 LIV players fell flat on their face. Rahm, who entered as the defending champion, had a terrible weekend.
Rahm finished 9-over for the tournament, 20 strokes behind Masters champion, Scottie Scheffler. So, the man who put the Green Jacket on him in 2023, he then had to put the jacket back onto the following year.
That prompted Faldo to re-post the video, reminding everyone of the sentiments he expressed.
All told, three LIV golfers, Bryson DeChambeau, Cam Smith and Tyrrell Hatton posted top-10 finishes at Augusta National. But the majority of the players from the Saudi-funded circuit struggled mightily.
