Esteban Ocon and Alpine pay tribute to 2021 Hungarian Grand Prix victory

Ahead of the Hungarian Grand Prix Esteban Ocon unveiled a helmet marking his first F1 win

The Hungarian Grand Prix will always be a special race for Esteban Ocon.

Now the driver is paying tribute to the race, and its distinctive trophy, at this weekend’s installment.

Ocon captured his maiden Formula 1 victory at the 2021 Hungarian Grand Prix, a win which marked the first for the team since rebranding as Alpine. Renault, which rebranded as Alpine ahead of the 2021 F1 campaign, had last tasted victory at the 2013 Australian Grand Prix.

Ahead of this year’s Hungarian Grand Prix Ocon and Alpine unveiled a tribute helmet for the weekend, styled in the manner of Ocon’s first-place trophy from the 2021 race:

This will be Ocon’s last Hungarian Grand Prix with Alpine, as the two sides announced earlier this season that they would part ways at the end of the 2024 campaign. Ocon has been linked with several teams since that announcement, but in recent days the focus has been on Haas. Rumors continue to swirl that Ocon and the American-based outfit are close to an agreement, with some outlets indicating that an announcement is “imminent.”

If that move comes to fruition, it would see Ocon paired with rookie driver Oliver Bearman, as Haas announced earlier this month that the young British driver would be in one of their seats next season on a “multi-year” deal.
